AS 2550.9 is the Australian Standard for the safe use and in-service inspection of vehicle hoists (car lifts). It sets out how vehicle hoists should be operated, maintained and inspected to keep workshops safe and compliant.

Under AS 2550.9 a vehicle hoist should be visually checked before each use (a daily pre-start inspection by the operator) and undergo a thorough service inspection by a competent person at regular intervals - commonly every six months. HoistChecker tracks both and flags anything overdue.

A daily pre-start check is a quick visual and functional check a technician performs before using a hoist each day. A service inspection is a more detailed examination by a qualified inspector, typically every six months, covering the structure, hydraulics, safety locks and controls.

HoistChecker keeps a complete, timestamped record of every inspection against each hoist, flags faults and overdue services, and generates audit-ready reports per site - so when an auditor or insurer asks, the evidence is a click away.
